My life so far...
Born and bred in Brooklyn, I came into this world sassy, sweet, and singing!
One of my first childhood memories is walking to school with my mom, belting out a song. During those walks I found MY voice.
I sang 'My New Philosophy' NONSTOP from the Clark Gesner musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Sally's bossy philosophies change with every verse. From then on (at age five) I knew what I was born to do.
My identity is rich in complexities. I’m half-Chinese, Jewish, and a whole lotta Brooklyn.
After graduating from Skidmore College with a B.A. in music and french, two years later I received my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance, with a concentration in opera, from NYU Steinhardt. I have come full circle with my music, exploring my voice from the depths of world music, to opera, concert-work, and now musical theater. The music which made me happy as a child is now the music I perform as an adult.
To me, music and art is inspiration, fire, freedom, and refuge, that I will never take for granted. Art makes being human special (and tolerable).
I make YouTube videos every week about my life as a singer in Brooklyn, helpful tips and tricks in figuring out what this business can hold for people. I am also a working singer and actress.
With my “philosophies” ever changing towards a more equitable and diverse theater space, I have learned valuable lessons about life and the human condition. Music is personal yet universal. With that fire in the belly, join me in all my current endeavors as a performer!
